365 Project Day 225: The Haircut
Posted on 13. Aug, 2011 by maryanne.
Canon 5D Mark ll, 70-200 2.8L, focal length 200mm, 6.3 aperture, 1/125 shutter, 100 ISO, Alien B800 to right of subject in larger soft box at 1/8 power
I have been after Johnny for weeks, yes weeks, to get his hair cut but he successfully avoided it until now. Interesting how something as simple as a haircut can make all the difference in your attitude. I was crouched over a slightly irritated butterfly in the front flower bed when he got home and stepped out of the car. I thought a crowd of high school girls were going to rush the yard at any moment. He had swagger, smolder and style. Even the butterfly I was photographing stopped trying to avoid me and looked at him.
Handsome young man, this one. I think we may have some model material, here. Thanks to Tracy Brandenburg of Artistic Expressions in Braselton for bringing out his best side. I think he may make her website!
And now, for more of the smolder…

Project 365 Day 55: Rock Star
Posted on 25. Feb, 2011 by maryanne.
Canon 5D Mark ll, 70-200 2.8 L, 6.3 aperture, 1/125 shutter, 100 ISO, one Alien B-800 using a 30 degree grid spot to the left of subject, another one on right to reflect off guitar. Rock Star Mojo.
Words cannot describe how much I love this kid. He must love me too, to pose for me at 11:30 p.m. so I can get my shot for the day! I thought it was time for him to get some face time on this project.
He is so much like his daddy. Funny, smart, gifted in music. A thinker. Not afraid of anything. God Seeker. I am so proud of him and who he is.
He keeps us all laughing. My sister says he looks like a young Donny Osmond. I can see that. Last year he played at a church camp and we have a recording of the middle school girls chanting his name, “Johnny…Johnny…Johnny!!!” He says it was terrifying, but I think it couldn’t have been that awful. He is pretty wonderful. Sometimes I chant his name like that to tease him.
God has blessed me with this boy, now a man. So soon, they grow up and fly away. I hope he doesn’t fly too far.
Yeah, love this boy.

This is my sister Dinah’s daughter. She is beautiful! Really, all of my nieces (and my own girls) are stunners! I am fortunate to be able to work with such beauties both inside and out. This is Lindsay. I photographed her wedding a year ago in May, and now I am helping her with headshots for her new acting career that is taking off! I am so proud of her. We decided to stay in the studio with the heat hovering around 95 degrees all week. Look at what we came up with. Well, I did have beautiful material.
