Isabella

Canon 5D Mark ll, 50 1.2L, 2.0 aperture, 1/200 shutter, 1/250 ISO

Here are a few favorites from my time  Alison Venable Johnson and her lovely children’s clothing line, Parbella. That is her daughter, Isabella, in the above photos. She is such a classic beauty, and so much fun to work with. God blessed Alison with a lovely daughter, inside and out. She is truly a natural, and kept us laughing a good bit of the time. She took me by surprise with her funny one-liners like, “Make sure you get my good side!” and ” I could do this all day, I was born for this!” She is only six. So smart, funny and beautiful, just like her mommy, and grandmother too. We had a tea party at our shoot last year. It was real hit with the girls! This year, we had a lovely ribbon swing, some colorful tires and a indoor set as well. (It was over a 100 degrees our first day!)  Here are just a few from our time together. So hard to pick! Enjoy~

365 Project Day 173: Sweet Wyatt

Wide-Eyed and Wonderful

Canon 5D Mark ll, 24-70 2.8 L, 7.1 aperture, 55 focal length, 1/160 shutter, 100 ISO. Two Alien B800′s in soft boxes at 45 degree angle in front of Wyatt at 1/4 power.

This is my sweet friend Julie’s baby boy, Wyatt. She wanted to capture him at this stage before he changed any more. We all feel it, as mothers, we know it well. We want to hold our babies as they are forever, while at the same time encouraging them to grow, to become. I felt her urgency, and commiserated with her. “Please capture him, as he is, before this time is gone.”  The chubby rubberband-arms and rolled legs. Those first teeth coming in. The last of the sweet baby smell, before they are running around and getting into everything. Before babies become boys. I know it well. What a sweet time to cherish. He is so cuddly, so curious, so wide-eyed and wonderful. Don’t you just want to hold him for a minute? He let me snuggle him for a bit and as he nuzzled into me, my heart melted into my shoes. Oh, sweet baby boy.

So glad we were able to capture him and freeze time for just a little while. Julie’s heart can rest a bit tonight, knowing she can place a piece of his childhood on her wall, framing this season forever.

Project 365 Day 118: An Afternoon with Emily Grace

Love in Lavender

Canon 5D Mark ll, 50 1.2L, 1.8 aperture, 1/125 shutter, 100 ISO, window light and a white reflector.

Has your heart melted yet?  Mine is still a sloppy mess. Meet Emily Grace, God’s gift to my friends, Keith and Kelly, who were already blessed with three boys.  She is sweetness, surprise and sunshine all wrapped up in one little-girl bundle. A kiss blown from heaven.

I got to spend the afternoon with her and her mom today. I was so grateful. I have been wanting to see her since she was born, and I thought I might die if didn’t get out there soon. With three brothers, I knew this girl needed a tutu, and fast. In the future there will be fingernail polish, ballet lessons, walking around in high heels too big for her, and ribbons all tied up in her red-braided hair. And that is just the beginning. I want to be there for as much as I can. I love my friend Kelly dearly, and am so happy for her. She got her girl.  I love her name, too. The first time I heard it, I knew it was perfect for her, and them as a family. ” Sweet Emily Grace that lives down the lane”, I teased Kelly. Her big brothers will handle any unwanted suitors that may come along. It’s funny to watch them try to get her to smile.  She pretty much has the whole family wrapped around her tiny little princess fingers. All is as it should be.:)

Blessings to you, Anderson Family. Sweet blessings to you, Emily Grace. I look forward to watching you grow up in grace and God’s love. I will be here to capture it if I can.:)

The Trinidad Family 2010

I absolutely adore this family. They were one of my first family’s that I photographed when I decided to shoot professionally. Lyndsey, their princess, is so much fun. If you could just bottle her laughter alone and sell it, you would be a millionaire. I could hardly hold my composure listening to and watching her giggle. She is such a happy child.

I appreciate Mike and Deborah so much. We had to move their appointment several times due to scheduling conflicts on my end, and they were always so patient. We had a wonderful shoot together. It was worth the wait! Mike even held a Grandaddy Long Leg spider up over my head to make Lyndsey giggle. Quite a sacrifice considering the spider left his “scent” on Mike’s fingers. Sorry Mike! Oh, and thanks for not dropping him on my head!

Bless you, Trinidads!

Here are some sweet pictures of our time together.

The Simmons Girls

I love this family.  They are near and dear to my heart. Craig is a fellow worship leader with my husband Chris at  12 stone Church and Kristin has served  with me on the dance ministry  for several years now.  Chris and I have known them since they fell in love, and Chris even officiated their wedding. Riley came along very soon after, and then her sister Reese.  Their family is like ours in so many ways!  Riley and Reese are so unique from each other  and yet both completely beautiful. So glad I got to spend time with them this week. My only regret is that I didn’t get Kristin in any shots, as she was hiding behind the scenes. Craig tried to hide, but we pushed him in for a few shots anyway.  Enjoy the lovely Simmons girls.
