Since you have so many books, Mary Anne, why not try sorting them by colors? I've seen this done and it gives it a organized feel and really makes a neat impact. And it helps to organize the books by size, too. If you want to break it up with baskets, you could put some of your smaller books in them, to break up the books if you like. I've also seen books stacked on the sides, with the pages showing out instead of the binders of the books. This is done in Christine's NYC apartment building's lounge. The books were also covered in white jackets, but that would be a year long project for you to cover all your books!! ;-) But I really didn't like this near as well as the color-coordinated look.

As far as your corner space goes, have you considered one of your beautiful photographs on an easel? You could have a "featured print" for each season, if you wanted to change it up. Or maybe a featured family portrait on an easel, with some smaller individual portraits on frames below.

Just some ideas...I know you'll come up with something fabulous!!
