Day 50 Chicken Joy

February 19, 2016
Silly Chicken

Silly Chicken

This is one of the funny faces of our chickens. Sometimes I wonder if God put chickens on the earth make us laugh. They never fail to give me the giggles when I go down to see them. This is the face of a chicken (Petunia in this case) who is focused on getting some kale out of my hand. I had a little trouble holding my camera and the kale at the same time but somehow I got this shot. The dogs sat outside the pen and watched me while I fed the chickens their greens with one hand and balanced my camera in the other. It must have been a silly sight.

I am grateful for the small joys. Today was a difficult day, but things like this lighten the load. God has a sense of humor and I am so glad.

Enjoying the things God has given me brings contentment to my heart. Not everyone has chickens (or wants them) but I do and I love them. Collecting eggs everyday has become a joy for my heart. I had never collected eggs until mama died, and a week or so after she was gone, the eggs started coming. I like to think she asked the Lord for that for me. I know her prayers are still active in my life. The prayers of my mom are ever encircling me. I believe that with my whole heart.

Thank you Jesus for my sweet chickens. You made some pretty amazing things.

Colossians 1:16 ~”For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.”

Petunia made me laugh too! And what beautiful feathers on that light colored one!

Great post today. I love the thought of your mom’s prayers still encircling your life. As a mom, this encourages me as I pray for my kids, knowing my prayers for them will be traveling to a future that I will not see (at least not here on earth with them.)

    Thank you.
