Day 45 Annie

February 15, 2016
Sunshine

Sunshine

We were sweetly surprised by our Annie this weekend. She is currently away in DC for grad school but she flew home for a a bit Georgia sunshine this weekend. Actually, the sunshine flew home to us. She is light and laughter. She is sunshine.

When she was born I was so surprised to see this fair-skinned, blue-eyed baby. Her older sister Katie was olive-complected and born with dark curly locks. Annie was her opposite in coloring but her equal in beauty. I don’t know why I was so surprised. This is exactly what I asked the Lord for when I was pregnant with her. If we were to have another girl I didn’t want her to stand in her sister’s shadow. “Please let her be just as beautiful,” I asked him,  “but in her own unique way.” He did exactly that. I think about that now in wonder at the Lord’s kindness to hear such a seemingly silly prayer from a mother. I never wanted them to compare their beauty to one another.

I am thankful for our blue-eyed beauty. She is kind and smart. She loves deeply and encourages us to be the best we can be. When she walks into a room, the mood brightens. She is a walking dance party. She thinks deep thoughts and is a loyal friend. All wonderful qualities.

We love you Annie Sunshine. Fly south again very soon.

Psalm 126:2,3 ~”Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, ‘The Lord has done great things for them.’  The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.”
