Day 24 Winter Hammock

January 24, 2016
Remember

Remember

Oh Winter Hammock, I remember you. I know your true self, what you were made for. This stiff, rigid exterior does not become you. It is not who you are, after all.

There was a time, late into summer when I held my beloved and you held us. He kissed me so sweetly as the sun was setting and the cicadas crooned their summer songs. This is who you are. You were made for swinging and kissing, laughing and napping. Do not forget your identity is wrapped up in joy and rest. Children will once again delight at the thought at getting tangled in your netting. Even Janey and I will swing deep and rest in you again.

Do not let winter tell you who you are. You were made for summer.

Do not let the barren places name you. As the darkness recedes the sun will warm your frame again. You will stretch and move and sway in the breeze again.

Summer will come.

Psalm 30:11,12 ~”You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.
