The corners of his curve into a winsome smile as he runs his hands over the oak chest. How he loves the things he makes. The air is filled with the warm scent of wood and hard work.
He has made a workshop for himself here in the barn. I hung string lights all the way around the outside – to light his way as he comes and goes late into the night. This kid has loved to carve and create since he could wield a pocket knife.
Now he is making beautiful chests with engraved trees in the tops of them. God has given him a tree as a symbol over his life – a symbol of wisdom and blessing. He in turn carves a tree into everything he makes somehow – somewhere. It reminds him of who God is.
I am so proud of you my boy.
The Lord is with you as you put your hands to making excellent things. I know you bring his heart such gladness.
Isaiah 61:3 ~”To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, The oil of gladness instead of mourning, The mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
