I am so excited about this new project I am working on with Alison Johnson. She is the creator and designer of Parbella, a beautiful new children’s clothing line, that I have fallen in love with! I met Alison while shopping for my new Imac. ( A very good day!)  She was taking a cookie break with her beautiful daughter, Isabella, across the hall from the Apple Store at  The Kneaded Perk and I was getting my usual coffee fix. I couldn’t help but be drawn to her and her beautiful daughter, Isabella. They were so precious together! I introduced myself , as I am prone to do, and we got to chatting. When I found out that she designed children’s clothing I was intrigued and asked her if she had a photographer yet.  She said that she had been doing all of her own shooting and it was getting to be too much for her.

I was excited! I have been considering a change of direction with my photography for awhile, and I loved the thought of focusing primarily on children, especially for a specific designer.  I asked her about her clothing line, and told her a bit about what I do. We exchanged business cards and and said our goodbyes. Not long after, we began to exchange emails and make plans to experiment together on a project or two. I am so excited! She got her samples in for her Spring line, and I have the opportunity to show them to the world! I am in the middle of lining up models right now. I need sweet little girls in sizes 3T and 6.

These dresses are stunning and the fabrics are divine. I am not going to give too much away, but here are a few sneak peeks at what I have hanging up at my house.:) If you have a little girl in your house, you are going to love these! More to come soon!!!

This is Olivia. She accompanied her daddy who is a friend of mine to help with a recent photo shoot. At the end of the shoot, I asked her if I could take a few photos of her with her pretty flower in her hair. She agreed, but was very shy. I love her innocence and sweetness she so easily portrays here. Isn’t she stunning? Love the one of her with her daddy at the bottom too!

Have a great week! I am off to Colorado for a nice vacation with my own family. Can’t wait!

Can I do this all the time?

I got to go play at my friend Kelly’s house last week. There was no agenda, except to get a couple shots of her for the Veterinary Clinic where she works. She is a vet, and I secretly envy her. I wanted to be one when I was a little girl. I  brought home every struggling animal I could find as a kid. My poor mom. Every spring I would bring home a baby bird that had fallen from the nest and do my best to nurse it until it was ready to fly. Don’t  think I ever succeeded.:( Anyway, when I hit Chemistry in high school, I assumed God had other plans for me. Therefore, I have deep admiration for anyone with the brains and skills that Kelly has. She is also an artist, so she got both. Not sure how fair that is, but I love her anyway.

Here are some pictures of her and her two youngest boys just playing on her farm. She has baby chicks right now and I loved just walking around observing and photographing all of it combined. Joy, sunshine, laughter, innocence and just sweetness. Wish I could do that all time. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did shooting them.

We had a wonderful day photographing Eli and his mom and dad last Saturday. We had baby sheep to play with as well as some sweet chicks on loan to me from my friend Kelly. I think Eli thought he was at the zoo or the park. I am not sure who had more fun, but I am pretty sure it was me. Eli is the apple of his mom and dad’s eyes, as you can see from these photos. Photographing children is so much fun as they are in a world of their own, and not worried about how to smile or behave. We just let him play and the magic came through.

Enjoy the photos of sweet Eli. ~

While sorting through my photos for a new project, I came across many of my favorite photos. So, I decided to start a category just for them, and post them from time to time.

I love this one of little Camden Chupp taken for his one year birthday.

Enjoy~

Boys will be… beautiful

Every year for some time now I have been going out to my good friends Keith and Kelly Anderson’s farm to photograph their beautiful boys. I love it. When you see the images below you will know why. They are so full of life, and we always have fun running around her farm from place to place laughing and giggling.  I can’t help laughing listening to them talk to one another, drop right on the spot and wrestle in the mud, chase chickens, and sometimes, I get them feeling pensive. The youngest, Ethan, is an old soul. He is the most like his mommy, I think. I can usually catch him standing with his hands in his pockets thinking about something important, I am sure. He is a love bug too, and I could just squeeze and kiss him all day. The middle one, Jonathan, comes up with the most amazing things to say. When I told him I couldn’t go with them to see Santa that night, he quipped ” it is such a hateful world”. I laughed about that all the way home with my Johnny, who assisted me on the shoot. Their oldest, Jack, is so funny too. He also comes out with hilarious things that sound like they came from a twenty-something man. All of them, amazing, and adorable.

Their mom, Kelly, is one of my dearest friends. She is wonderful through and through. She is a veterinarian, and therefore an instant hero for me. I always wanted to be one when I was a kid, but lacked the chemistry grades in high school.  She has both beauty and brains. You can’t beat it. There is always a potpourri of different animals and rescues at her place. She has a heart of gold and the animals always seem to find her. I am always at home there myself. It is a good place to be.

Enjoy the beautiful Anderson boys.~

Kids in Costumes

Recently as I was chatting with a friend  about how to better photograph kids, she came up with a great idea. I was lamenting that I needed to find new ways to help kids feel comfortable, and that I hated trying to take stuffy pictures of kids all lined up being forced to sit  and look at the camera all the while getting everyone more and more stressed. ” I just want to photograph kids being themselves,” I told her, ” in their own environments.” That’s when she came with the idea of photographing one of the play dates that her kids had with other kids in the area. ” And being Halloween, they could all wear their costumes!”   I was in. A perfect set up for me. I would just show up and capture the kids, in cute costumes, just playing and having fun. Yes!  I ended up with so many great photos, I couldn’t narrow them down much, so… here are a bunch of pictures! :) We had a ladybug, two firemen, some princesses,a butterfly, a ballerina, a pirate and a rock star.

Enjoy these sweet photos. I sure enjoyed taking them, and even processing them.

The Simmons Girls

I love this family.  They are near and dear to my heart. Craig is a fellow worship leader with my husband Chris at  12 stone Church and Kristin has served  with me on the dance ministry  for several years now.  Chris and I have known them since they fell in love, and Chris even officiated their wedding. Riley came along very soon after, and then her sister Reese.  Their family is like ours in so many ways!  Riley and Reese are so unique from each other  and yet both completely beautiful. So glad I got to spend time with them this week. My only regret is that I didn’t get Kristin in any shots, as she was hiding behind the scenes. Craig tried to hide, but we pushed him in for a few shots anyway.  Enjoy the lovely Simmons girls.
