365 Project 2017

Day 61 Watching Johnny Work

March 4, 2017

Artist at Work

Yesterday I photographed Johnny working on one of his projects. He is so gifted. He freehanded the tree and then he carved it out into the wood. I loved watching him work. The dogs and the horses all gathered near as I watched him work. The day felt like a kiss from God with all of my favorite things close by.

I have gotten behind in this project but I figure if I only get 360 days out of 365, it will still be a success. Success for me is documenting my days so that they don’t slip into oblivion. Life travels so quickly and we live distracted and busy. A project like this helps me to remember God’s extraordinary goodness in my seemingly ordinary days. I am remembering to give myself the grace that I often extend to others. Why is it so hard to be kind to ourselves?

I love watching Johnny work. This is a sweet season with him at home. I cherish the time I have to talk to him about life and walk with him in the sunshine. He is a brilliant and kind young man and I love him deeply. He and his daddy spend the weekends working around the farm cutting down trees or riding in the red truck downtown for lunch. It is food for my mother’s heart to see them laughing and working together. This is the richest kind of treasure to have and I pray I don’t take it for granted.

Blessings to you all this weekend.

xoxo,

Mary Anne
