Day 51 Playing with Color

February 21, 2017

Blue and Yellow

Today I took some time to play. I am always drawn to colors, especially if they are organized into a pattern. My bookshelf is organized by the color of the book jacket. Not only is it pleasing to the eye, but I find it easier to find the books by color than by name. This image reminds me a bit of the I Spy books my kids had growing up. They were puzzle books made up of beautiful images. I loved reading them more than the kids did I think.

It was good to play today. There is something extraordinary about moving colors and shapes around on a table until they are pleasing to the eye. There was no job to be done — I was just tending the magic in my soul. In doing something that I typically “don’t have time for” I actually created margin around my heart. I felt like I could breathe a bit better when I was done. All the stuff that needed to be done could wait a little longer.

I hope you are finding ways to tend the magic in your own soul. God put some pretty wonderful stuff in there.

What are you dreaming about doing? Let’s lay worry aside and enjoy his goodness.

Psalm 126:2 ~”Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”

Matthew 6:27 ~”Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

I was rereading through an old kid’s book on Van Gogh today, and noticed how frequently he used yellow and blue… Good taste!
