Day 50 Twinkle

Twinkle

I love the lights we hung in the oak tree in our front yard. I love them so much  I also hung them on my front porch and around the barn. If I could have my way I would light up the back woods with them too. They are food for my soul. I love to go out on a walk at night and come back to their warmth and sparkle. They say to me, “Welcome home. We were expecting you.” I love that.

Twinkle lights were not my idea though. They were God’s. He filled the deep blue of the midnight sky with them. He knew this world would have enough darkness of its own. I see his heart every time I catch a glimpse of a star, or see the warm glow of the moon on the horizon. God is practical yes, but he is also so very extravagant. He lavishes us with beauty and light not only because he loves us, but because those things tells us more about him and who he is. Nature is always depicting his qualities. He is colorful, deep, refreshing, fragrant, good and satisfying. And so much more.

He is so good.

He sends us lights to guide us home. This is not all there is. We have a home beyond this world that is so much more than we could even imagine.

Genesis 1:14-19 ~”And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” 

Ephesians 3:20,21 ~”Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
