Day 47 He Calls Me Sunshine

February 17, 2017

Sunshine

When we first started dating we laughed a lot. We shared the same interest in music and humor and time flew by when we were together.

He said I brought sunshine into his world. He was a deep thinker and my sunny disposition brought levity to his heavy lines. He brought a steadiness that I had never known. I was drawn to his confidence and deep love for God.  It was love. We were married a year after we met.

Since then we have ridden the rollercoaster of life together with hearts and hands clutched tight. There have been many times when the light that God put in me was deeply dimmed. This last season of losing both of my parents has been one of those seasons.

He still calls me Sunshine. (My parents both called me that.)

I am grateful that he still sees me. He still sees the college girl wearing red skippies with a bandana in her hair. He still makes me laugh and I still find peace in his steady blue eyes. These yellow mums were my Valentine bouquet. He said their cheerful blossoms reminded him of me. I am so thankful for his belief in who God made me to be. God knew just what I needed when he brought this deep river of a man into my life.

How I love him.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ~”Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant,  does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,  does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
