Day 31 Hope

January 31, 2017

Just Over There

Tonight as Chris and I walked a path through the woods we could not take our eyes off the sky. The woods were growing dark and thick but that sky reminded us of where we were going.

This is hope.

We are frail in our humanity. One moment we are flying high and trusting God and the next we are discouraged and afraid. I know that is how I can be. The enemy of our souls works tirelessly to distract, discourage and dishearten us.  The woods of this world can get pretty gnarly. But God? He stretches that brilliant sky across the horizon to remind us – this is not all there is. We have been called to a hope that is greater than our grief. We are held by the one who holds both heaven and earth in his hands.

Look, just over there. Hope is on the horizon.

Ephesians 1:18,19 ~”I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.”

1Timothy 4:10 ~”That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.”

I loved this line ” We have been called to a hope that is greater than our grief. We are held by the one who holds both heaven and earth in his hand.” It was good for me to hear this again..

[…] Hope. Mary Anne Morgan’s photography always stops me, and these words on hope are too good to miss. […]
