Day 19 Here Comes the Rain

January 20, 2017

Here Comes the Rain

I can see it from a distance now. The rain is coming. How quickly we forget the prayers we prayed on those long summer days when the grass turned to dust and the lakes dried up. We have been thirsty for so long.

I do not believe that God wastes any prayers. I envision him gathering up the precious prayers of his people, gently holding them until their answering day arrives. Then, just like that, the clouds carry the showers of blessing to the ones they are destined for.

It’s like this funny story I remember from a trip Chris and I took on an anniversary. We stayed in a little cabin that had a fireplace. The owners of the place told us to call if we needed firewood and they would stack it up for us on the porch. We called them when it got chilly that night and they said they would bring it right over. When we checked, there was no wood on the porch. So, we called again and they said they would bring it right away. Again we waited but no wood. This happened three times. Frustrated, we went out for a walk and as we were walking back to the cabin we saw wood pile up to the ceiling on the BACK porch. We laughed so hard. All that time and they were doing exactly as they said. We just didn’t know there was another porch.

The Lord reminded me of that story as I was praying for a friend one day. He told me the minute that we pray he is working. He is always working. Sometimes the wood is just on another porch.

So friends, be encouraged tonight. Here comes the rain. After a season of drought or grief, your prayers are being answered by a kind and loving Father God. He has not forgotten us. Better still, he is at the ready to meet our every need.

Matthew 7:7 ~”Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

Beautiful post. We have been having special services all week at my church, and the major theme has been rain, and refreshing, and God answering prayer. Love this.

Wow! This brought tears of encouragement to my heart. Thank you for sharing. I love the thought of “God’s answering day” puts it in perspective. Maybe tomorrow is the day the rain will come and God will answer my prayers. Blessings!
