365 Day 2 Wisdom and Stature

Wisdom

He comes into the kitchen, all smiles. My boy. His ruddy complexion reminds me of my dad’s. He sits down beside me, the muscles twitching in his still-smiling cheeks. I drink in the sight of my now grown son. These are the moments I cherish- the everyday moments of  doing life with my family.

I can tell he has something he wants to say. He does this from time to time, when he feels led. He is not a man of many words and he chooses them carefully the better part of the time. ” I see more life coming into you now,” he begins.  “You have so much more to do than you think you do- ministry that is way beyond the walls of this house. There is more for you. More life– more joy.”

My heart swells.

A word of wisdom and encouragement from my own son. Is there anything more a mother could want? He is operating in the gifts God has given him.

When we finish chatting we walk outside to the woods that helped raise him. My little homeschooled boy relished his time alone in the woods. He studied every tree. Every path led to a new adventure. He needed the solitude to flourish. The trees heard his secrets and held them close.

Now he is grown. Wisdom adorns his countenance. I am so very grateful for my boy.

Proverbs 2:1-6 ~ “My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom  and applying your heart to understanding— indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. “
