Day 36 Peace

February 6, 2016
Peace

Peace

The stars have become a source of comfort me in this season of grief. Tonight is no exception. The sky is lovely on the farm tonight. Wispy clouds stream color and texture to an already beautiful scene.  I walk in with my tripod to my usual spot, with my dogs trailing behind me. The night is new moon-dark and there is no breeze. All is still. I can hear some ducks quacking in the distance. The puppies huddle around my feet as I set up my tripod. They know the routine and I am glad for their company. I finger the quarter I keep in my winter jacket pocket to tighten my tripod head. Funny, when I feel that quarter in my pocket during the day, the peace of the night sky washes over me all again.

As I set up my camera, I breathe out a familiar scripture to the Lord and to myself  “praise the Lord oh my soul and all that is within me, praise his holy name.” It is a reminder to all of me to worship the only one who is worthy. I look up at the stars and I do praise him. Here I can sense him. He is particularly near underneath the stars. I tell him everything — how my heart aches- how I miss my mom. I tell him how I love him and how I need him. I ask him to tell her I love her. I pray for my babies who are now adults that they would sense him too.

I weep. I breathe. I pray.

The shutter, which is on a timer, gently clicks closed. I love that sound. Something beautiful has been gathered up to share with others. A treasure for a rainy day. I tell the dogs, “okay let’s go” and we head back up the drive to the house.

More star images. I hope you don’t mind. I sense his peace here.

John 14:27 ~”Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Fears and the various stresses of the day can often distract and blur our vision of His face – the face of perfect love. Reading your blog every day and gazing at the incredible photos you take capturing the majesty in God’s creation pulls everything back into focus. “Yes,” my heart says – “there You are.”

I second what Gayle has said. 🙂

I found this blog on Day 4, I think. God has been using it to help me find peace and rest.
My mom will have been with Jesus one year on Valentine’s Day. The days are HARD. But I have been treasuring what HE is teaching me through your pictures and comments, as well as my Bible readings. HE gave me a re-connection with her in the last year before she died. I am thankful for that and for your postings every day.
I am praying for you daily. HUGS.

Mind? Are you kidding? I so look forward to unwrapping your daily grace gifts of connection. From your words, your pictures, your precious, cuddly pups….all help make the daily sojourn that much more magical indeed. Oh yes and amen, praise the LORD with all that is within me. Praise His holy Name!
