365 2014 Day 7 When Bubbles Freeze

Frozen World

Frozen World

I literally giggled with glee when I found this gem on my card today. I thought for sure I had failed at this attempt to capture a frozen bubble. I cannot even count how many people challenged me to do this after seeing this post. A mom and her son made beautiful portraits of frozen bubbles together. I thought “Okay, sure I’ll try that since it is going to be 6 degrees on Monday morning”. Hmmm, a lot harder than it looks. While holding a bubble on a bubble wand with my left hand (after 30 others had popped) I tried to focus my camera and the heavy 100 macro lens with my right. It was cold, I was frustrated, and I had only slept about 3 hours the night before caring for my horses in the barn. I gave up after a few minutes, made some hot tea and posted on Facebook that I had failed.

I laughed when I saw the photo, but not because I thought I had dumb luck. I laughed because of the goodness of God. The joy literally “bubbled” out of me. He is so faithful. He promised to meet me every day, and he does even when I fail. Especially when I fail!

The patterns and colors are exquisite. That is the mark of my creator. Everything he does is perfect and beautiful. I am in awe of him tonight.

James 1:17 ~”Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

These pictures are stunning! Almost like a snow globe…. but made by God! I love that you were even able to capture the intricacies of the ice formations. I have no clue how you held that bubble and a heavy macro lens at the same time and had enough steadiness in your hand to capture such beauty, but God always provides – and surprises! Spectacular!

(PS. The lady in your new header/logo is too fat if that’s supposed to be you. Or maybe just not proportioned correctly. You’re nowhere near that big! 🙂 )
