365 2014 Day 10 New Mercies

Fresh Mercies

Fresh Mercies

When I think about the mercies of God and how they are fresh for us every morning, this is how I imagine them to be. Bright and glistening at our feet, they are to be gathered and savored as a gift from heaven. The days can be draining, and we often go to bed wondering if our thirsty spirits can endure another day. I have felt this way often in the last months. So tired, so empty. A friend recently encouraged me that God’s mercies were new every morning. My spirit sighed in relief when she said it. It was a reminder that I do not have to have it all figured out just now. He has given me enough strength for this day. When I worry or borrow tomorrow’s troubles and try to solve them today, I am stepping outside of his provision. Just like the manna from heaven in scripture, I am only to gather enough for today.

Gather his mercies in the morning and trust that you will have enough until it is time to rest. I am so grateful that he speaks to me through what he has made. Aren’t his mercies beautiful?

Lamentations 3:23-24 ~

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”

    You constantly remind me that the tiny seemingly insignificant things in this world carry the same glory as the bursting sunsets, the towering mountain peaks, and the vastness of outer space. Thank you for that!

    I just found your blog through my sister. What a fabulous concept you’ve created! I’m in love with my Jesus, artful manipulation of words and capturing God’s beautiful world in photos. So I will return. And thank you…for sharing your pics, your journey and mostly, your heart.
