365 Project Day 257: Lie Down

September 15, 2011

Fresh Perspective

Canon 5D Mark ll, 16-35 2.8 L, 2.8 aperture, 1/200 shutter, 100 ISO

And when the world spins round so fast and my heart squeezes tight under pressure, when the emails pile up faster than the dishes, and lists run endlessly off the pages of my life,

I finally lie down.

Deep in the grass, the sunlight bathing and soothing the cold places, the world turns on itself and I see. I see the wonder, the beauty, the vastness of the glory of God. I find my smallness again, and stresses shrink to their proper proportion. I am not God, and I am not in control. He is, and He willingly takes it all.

Lie Down

The earth hums alive and I press my face into the warmth of the September soil. I am connected to my beginnings, remembering the story. From the earth, the rib, God-breathed and alive. Fallen, then redeemed, and now filled, Christ dwells in me. It is our story. I breathe and rest reaches in. I feel sleepy and relieved. It’s all going to be okay. I know the One who holds it all in His hands, and best of all He knows me.

He is my shepherd.

Finding my Smallness

Psalm 23:1-3 ~ “The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. “

    “I find my smallness again”
My favorite line – great thoughts here.
Under a sky that we didn’t create how can we do anything but stay tucked in the safety of humility.

Thank you for showing me Christ on a day where I can barely see anything outside of screaming kids. Thank you for helping me find my smallness, for reminding me about how big our God is. I found you from Ann Voskamp’s blog. I will follow you! Feel free to follow me….blessings!
