Like his Daddy

Canon 5D Mark ll, 24-70 1.8L, 4.0 aperture, 1/160 shutter, 200 ISO

When wraps those long fingers around that old Takamine guitar, the same one on which his daddy wrote my first love song, my heart fills up, happy. He is so much like his daddy, and for that I am truly grateful. That means he has the seeds of true greatness in him, that he will love deeply and be loved by many. He will have the favor of God on his life, as well as the favor of men. If he stewards this likeness well, he will be a leader, compassionate and wise. I have prayed for this, that my son would be a man after God’s own heart, like King David, and like his dad. And now, at 18, I see him growing into a man. A man like the one I married.

I fell in love with a skinny boy/man and married him almost 24 years ago. He carried that Takamine around with him everywhere, so proud of the first guitar he ever bought with his own money. He sang me love songs, and wooed me from Virginia to Georgia with them. He sang songs of worship to God, and I felt safe being second in his life. Second to a God worthy of being first. Now, our own boy/man knows the value of putting God first, and he finds his place in this world. What more could a wife and mother want?

More time.:)

That man stole my baby girl right from under my nose and I couldn’t be happier. Maybe not so happy then – not because I didn’t like him, but because I wasn’t ready for her to go. He is THE best husband for her. As a father, there is none better. Not only to this strong young man playing the guitar, but to his 3 daughters as well. Happy Father’s Day, Chris!
